Client Information and Informed Consent

    I am a Chartered Counselling Psychologist with the British Psychological Society and a Registered Applied Psychologist with the Health & Care Professions Council and adhere to their codes of ethics/standards of proficiency.

    As a psychologist, I work with individuals on a range of difficulties utilising a variety of the therapeutic approaches. I work collaboratively with clients to identify difficulties and goals for change and tailor my approach accordingly. As such, the duration of psychotherapy varies from client to client.

    It is important for you to recognise that this is a professional relationship. This suggests a desire, on your part, to engage with any/all forms for treatment that you are undergoing. The duration of therapy will be by mutual agreement. Please note that it is impossible to guarantee any specific results regarding therapy goals. Together, however, we will work to achieve the best possible preferred and realistic results for you.

    Within in our professional relationship, I assure you of confidentiality regarding anything that you say to me, with the following exceptions:
    * That you direct me (with written consent) to inform someone else;
    * That I determine that you are an actual, believed, or predicted, danger to property, yourself, or to others;
    * That you are under 16 years of age, or a vulnerable adult, and I believe that you have been, or currently are, a victim or perpetrator of abuse;
    * That you initiate civil or criminal action against me;
    * That I am obliged by any relevant legislation or any other legal requirement to disclose to the appropriate bodies.

    Appointments are made at my discretion. Payment of fees will be due at the conclusion of each session. In the event that you are unable to keep an appointment, you must notify me at least 72 hours in advance. If such advanced notice is not received, you will be responsible for paying for any session(s) missed.
    Please note that I have monthly supervision for my therapeutic practice. In the event that I seek supervisory clarification (on my effectiveness as your therapist), I assure you that your identity will remain confidential.
